The new software update gives the most up-to-date Android patches. To help you with the software update for your Samsung device, the following instruction is to be followed:
For Wi-Fi Exclusive Update
If Wi-Fi is enabled and your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network, your device will be able to receive and download new software updates.
1. The download will take place when the device is in Wi-Fi coverage, but coverage does not need to be consistent. You can use multiple Wi-Fi networks and disconnect from/reconnect to Wi-Fi, and the update will continue to download from where it left off until complete.
2. When the download is complete, you’ll receive a notification that a new software update is available for installation. Tap on ‘install’ now, and the device will power off and back on, to begin the installation process.
And you’ve successfully updated your software.
For Server-Initiated Software Update
You’ll be notified of a software update. Then select ‘Install now, and your device will power off and back on. To begin with, the processes then tap ‘ok’ for installation. To note, the software update message will appear periodically until you install the update. Once the installation is complete, you are successfully done with your software update.
For User-Initiated Software Update
This process allows users to navigate the device options to seek updates. Tap to the ‘menu’ key, then to ‘settings’ and then ‘About phone’ followed by ‘Software updates’ and then ‘Check for updates.’ when the device finds a software update, then tap to ‘download’ and then to ‘install update’. The device will power off and back on, and as the installation completes, tap ‘ok’.
For System updates, while roaming
To update, you need a Wi-Fi connection and wait for the update notification to appear. To enable Wi-Fi, you need to go to the ‘setting’ then ‘Wireless &networks’ and then tap to ‘Wi-Fi’. If there is no strong Wi-Fi or Verizon Wireless network, the update may not be able to perform, instead, connect your device to a computer with internet access and then download the ‘software upgrade assistant’ tool. This will check and initiate the software update process.
It is to note that before the download, your device must be connected to a Wi-Fi or a strong Verizon Wireless network and also to ensure that the battery is fully charged before the process starts.
