Vivo is all set to surprise the public with its latest smartphone, the Vivo NEX 2, and mind you! This isn’t simply going to be an upgrade of its predecessor, the Vivo NEX that was launched last June. Originally termed as Vivo Apex, the new Variant of the NEX is called Vivo NEX Dual Screen Edition.
Yep, you heard that right! Like the Vivo smartphones that are famous for its superb cameras, this new variant takes the competition a notch higher. It won’t be known for just its state of the art selfie camera but its innovative dual display. Yes! This device packs an impressive dual screen both at the front and back of the device.
Equipped with a powerful triple rear camera package and a lunar ring, this beast packs a 128 GB storage and 10GB RAM that would ensure high-quality photos and powerful performance. Another interesting fact about the lunar ring around the camera module is that it doubles as notifications LED and can even tune in to the beats of the music you play.
Nubia X was the first smartphone in favor of dual screens over a rear camera setup. Vivo seems to have taken the cue and fashioned out a powerful device that, if rumors are true has the potential to rock the smartphone market globally.
Powered by an impressive Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and 3500 mAh battery, the smartphone boasts of having a super AMOLED display. Vivo NEX measures a whopping 6.39 inches (1080× 2340 pixels) for Ultra full view display experience and a secondary screen in the rear with a 5.49 inches display (1080×1920 pixels). The new variant also packs the standard smartphone specs including an in-display fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi.
Vivo has also tweaked the camera department, offering many pro camera specs like AI Face Beauty and screen recognition, Panaroma, HDR, Selfie lighting, AI filters, and Selfie Softlight to name a few. The smartphone offers a 12MP + 2MP dual cameras in the rear with Time of Flight (TOF) and rear flash and selfie soft light plus f1.179 + f1.8 +f1.3 that would ensure a smooth camera experience even at low light settings and great selfies.
Regarding the software inside, the smartphone surely doesn’t disappoint, running on Funtouch OS 4.5 based on the latest Android 9.0 Pie.
While the phone doesn’t have Type C USB charging it would still support fast charging and won’t be much of a let down for those who prefer Type C ports as the company has paid more attention to the camera and back screen displays for which it is rightfully famous. It is undoubtedly a huge upgrade from its predecessor, has revolutionized the entire concept of smartphone screens, with users getting the most out of their smartphones with dual screens.
The Vivo NEX Dual Screen edition is expected to be priced at around CNY 4998 (approx USD 725 / INR 52,000) in China and will be available in two color choices – Polar Blue and Nebula Purple. Both the color variant sports a smooth, glossy finish body having ripple gradient finish.
