The Chinese Tech-Giant Vivo has developed a Super HDR camera technology integrated with an AI component. The Vivo Super HDR cam will be able to capture up to 12 frames per shot; it is capable of creating photographic marvels.
Only recently, Vivo had shaken the Android savvies’ imagination with its newest innovation, the Apex Phone, which has an under-glass fingerprint sensor, and unique ways to sideline bezels and notches on the screen. While this is a hardware wonder, the Super HDR also shows Vivo’s efforts in creating software miracles.
The HDR setting in the camera uses the superimposition of multiple frames of the same scenario with different levels of exposure. Once those frames are combined into a single image, the resultant image has a much wider range of colors than what is normally possible.
While the HDR setting is common on most smartphone cameras these days, Vivo’s Super HDR’s dynamic range of 14 EV (exposure values) – with the help of the 12 continuous shots it achieves in a single go provides amazing color balance and contrast, among other things.
According to Vivo, the Super HDR uses AI to analyze the scene to be shot, choose the correct exposure and select the particular frames to be merged.
The announcement about Super HDR doesn’t mention which phone it is to be featured on. However, reports from China are predicting that it to be featured on the forthcoming Vivo Apex.
