The Finnish multinational telecommunications company and New Zealand telecommunications company Vodafone and Nokia have officially announced the signing of an innovation-focused Memorandum of Understanding today to collaborate on the development of new applications and services enabled by the capabilities of Nokia’s advanced mobile network technology.
According to the firms, the strategic partnership of Vodafone and Nokia tends to develop and drive new applications supported by 5G, 5G-Advanced, and 6G in the future. And also focus on the development of new and exciting use cases for consumers, enterprises, and industry.
Celebrating 30 Years of Partnership
The new team-up comes as the duo firms celebrate 30 years of partnership in New Zealand and will focus on accelerating the opportunities of Vodafone’s extensive 4G/5G network. At the same time, the companies will also look to explore the capabilities of 5G-Advanced and 6G networks in the future.
Besides, the pact will further endeavor to spark innovation in advanced networks, establishing business prospects and future use cases in sectors ranging from network slicing and private networks to industrial automation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, edge computing, and a future with 6G enabled.
In addition, the Vodafone and Nokia partnership will also maintain New Zealand at the vanguard of international network technology advancements and allow it to play a significant role in determining how the next generation of technologies will be used to improve people’s lives, the economy, and the environment.
Accelerating A 5G-Advanced and Ultimately 6G Network in New Zealand
Speaking on the strategic partnership between Vodafone and Nokia, Tommi Uitto, President of Mobile Networks at Nokia, pointed out that the collaboration will pave the way forward to 5G-Advanced and, ultimately 6G network in New Zealand.
