Social media apps Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and messaging app WhatsApp experienced a global outage, affecting thousands of users.
At the outage's peak, over 14,000 users reported issues accessing Instagram, while Facebook and WhatsApp also faced problems.
Meta Platforms, the parent company of these apps, did not immediately respond to inquiries about the outages.
Meta plans to label government-affiliated accounts on its new platform Threads, similar to Twitter, to address concerns of foreign interference.
Meta's Facebook and Instagram platforms already have tags on RT, and Xinhua accounts to identify them as state-controlled media.
