The most anticipated feature of WhatsApp that is group video call and the voice call is coming soon. The new feature is all set to roll out on Android beta, iOS and Windows phone. On Android, the new feature is accessible in the latest updates – namely, v2.18.189 or v2.18.192 while iOS users need to simply update their app to the latest version to avail group voice and video calling.
This feature was first announced at the Facebook annual developers’ conference allowing a user to call up to four contacts at once. The group call support will be available for both voice and video calls.
Using the new feature is simple; to make a WhatsApp group call you first place a call to one of your WhatsApp contacts from the app, an icon will appear at the right top corner; this icon will let you add the other members from the WhatsApp contacts. The screen will now split into four small screens of each member in the call. And the host who initiates the call will be able to add participants for the call with a maximum of four participants. Four is the limit that can be added at once in a group call.
For Android users, the feature is available for both beta and stable versions. And to use the feature ahead of a stable rollout, you can either register for the Google Play WhatsApp beta programme or download the above-mentioned beta versions from APK Mirror. WABetaInfo on Twitter announces “WhatsApp is enabling group voice and video calls for Windows Phone users too.” And most users are expected to get the new update within some days.
WhatsApp has come up with several new features recently, however, the ongoing Cambridge Analytica data breach scandal has put plans of the Global rollout of WhatsApp business on halt. There are certain new features that are yet to launch this year as announced by the Facebook at the F8 2018.
