Today, the instant messaging platform WhatsApp has announced a desktop app for Windows and Mac users. The development comes after the Facebook-owned company launched WhatsApp web in January last year and a month after it rolled out end-to-end encryption for all communication.
“Today we’re introducing a desktop app so you have a new way to stay in touch anytime and anywhere – whether on your phone or computer at home or work.”
Around 1 billion users worldwide use WhatsApp to connect to their friends and family members. The desktop app is simply an extension of your phone, and like WhatsApp Web, it will rely on your mobile phone to keep all conversations synced across all of your devices.
For the time being, theÑ app is available for desktop runs on Windows 8 or above and Mac OS 10.9+ to sync all your messages to your mobile phone. Available in both the users of the platform will get support for native desktop notifications, better keyboard shortcuts, and more.
Get the app from the download center to experience WhatsApp on your Windows desktop or Mac. Once you have installed the app on your desktop, scan the QR code from your mobile phone to sync all your communications.
