In a bid to enhance the user experience and address the growing demand for multiple account management, WhatsApp, one of the world’s most popular messaging platforms, is set to introduce a new feature that allows users to add two accounts within a single app. This long-anticipated feature is expected to simplify communication for users who have both personal and professional WhatsApp accounts.

Before now, users of WhatsApp were previously limited to utilizing just one account. Thus, clone WhatsApp apps were required if a user wished to use multiple WhatsApp accounts on the same device. These unofficial apps posed a security risk in addition to being an annoyance.

WhatsApp is Bringing Two Accounts in A Single App

A recent tweet image shared by tipster Abhishek Yadav shows that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is testing the upcoming feature. In the image, Mark Zuckerberg revealed that WhatsApp is rolling out the ability to switch between accounts on Android, and users won’t need to lug around an extra device or continuously log out of their account to be able to do so.

With this new functionality, you should be able to more easily manage discussions between several accounts, such as if you have a WhatsApp account for work and a separate account for chatting with friends and family. In the upcoming weeks, it will be implemented.

Soon you can add two accounts in WhatsApp

To enjoy this feature when it is finally rolled out, users can go to Settings > Add Account to add a second account. While setting up, you will need your second phone with a SIM or a phone with a physical or eSIM facility for multi-SIM.

“You’ll still need a separate phone number and SIM card (or a phone that accepts multi-SIM or eSIM) if you want to set up a second account. You’ll also need the second phone or its SIM card to receive the one-time passcode that WhatsApp will send via SMS to gain access to your second account on a different device. After this initial verification, the app will continue to work for both accounts without the second device or SIM”, says WhatsApp spokesperson Ellie Heatrick.

While the official release date of this feature has not been confirmed, WhatsApp has indicated that it will be rolled out gradually to all users in the coming weeks. This eagerly awaited update is expected to improve the messaging experience for millions of WhatsApp users worldwide, allowing them to effortlessly manage multiple accounts within a single app while maintaining security and privacy. Thus, stay tuned for more updates.
