WhatsApp is again working on a new feature that will enable its users to send disappearing messages. WhatsApp added the feature of deleting a message from a conversation a couple of years back, and now if this new feature is developed, a message can self-destruct after a set period of time.
The latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android, the v2.19.275, had traces of this new feature which led to several speculations which then led to this conclusion that WhatsApp may add the new feature in the future.
The self-destructive text messages would not be available to the public yet even as a part of the beta version but it is hoped that WhatsApp will go forward with this decision and add this as its latest feature.
WABetaInfo is positive that WhatsApp is actively working on this feature and that the facebook-owned platform is trying its best to bring the latest version forward with the added disappearing feature ‘bug-free’.
The website said, “As the name suggests, any message eligible to be ‘disappeared’, will be automatically deleted from the chat!”
If a user decides to turn on this disappearing feature for a certain chatbox the entire content of that said chat-box would self-destruct or disappear after a period of time set by the user.
The user will be able to mark the chat as “disappeared” enabling the option “Disappearing messages“, in Group Info. WhatsApp is not the first messenger to add this disappearing feature. Telegram, a highly-encrypted chat platform also has this feature.
Last month, Whatsapp added a new feature for Android and iOS users which lets them share their stories directly to other social media platforms such as Facebook or other apps.
However, WhatsApp has not released any official statement as of yet even though Twitter is blowing up with the self-destruct related tweets.
