Whatsapp has come up with a brand new update that allows users to manage storage with the primary aim to make it easier for users to find and delete files that take up extra space.
As claimed by Whatsapp, this new tool will be “rolling out to users worldwide this week”. The feature can be accessed by following these steps- Setting> storage and data> Manage storage.
The present “Storage Usage” tool of Whatsapp figures out all available chats simply by the amount of space occupied by it, by jotting the number of photos, GIFs, videos, and messages in each chat and then allowing the user to delete each category by few clicks.
Although the process is handy, the feature does not allow users to browse the content they intend to delete. A family group chat, claims that it is important if a user needs to delete files and chat in spite of refraining from deleting important information.
On the other hand, the newly designed tool is made in such a way that it will offer thumbnails of content to be deleted. The tool then categorizes the data by “Forwarded many times” and ” Larger than 5 MB”.
The Facebook-owned company believes this tool would make it easier for users to identify content they do not need anymore and can be deleted without much ado.
