In a future WhatsApp Beta update, the company plans to add a blur tool directly within the media editor. This feature is not yet ready to be released to beta users and is currently under development.
A new option shall be included in the app that will let us instantly blur out a part of the image without using any sort of third-party tools. Last year, this feature was introduced to the iOS users as a new update to the existing options, and this year they are planning to include it in the Whatsapp beta for Andriod as well.
Whatsapp is also planning to introduce the drawing tool on the desktop version as well. Recently, WhatsApp has added two more tools to the WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS, but it is not clear if they are coming to desktop as well.
Besides, WhatsApp is rolling out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.22.15.5. It appears that WhatsApp has been working on its own version of the Memoji/Bitmoji avatars since March, and we can finally see something about it today.
When a new update is released, we will be able to immediately switch to our avatar on the video call screen. If we tap “Switch to avatar”, nothing happens: this is because the feature is still under development, so it will not be available on video calls anytime soon. WhatsApp will also let users send avatars as stickers right within their chats and groups. In addition, this is not limited to WhatsApp beta for Android: WhatsApp is also planning to offer Avatars to iOS users in a future update.
However, since these features are still under development, we are still unfortunate about the date of their release. It’s a good time to wait and ponder upon the efficiency of these features.
