Indian students from Manav Rachna Institute of Research and Studies have made the country proud by winning the Microsoft Imagine Cup Asia semifinals with a reward of USD 15,000.

The competition offers students a chance to earn both cash and mentorships under the program. This time around, three students from the Manav Rachna Institute of Research & Studies snagged the top prize from 11 other Asian teams, for their invention Caeli.

What’s the device all about? Caeli is a sleek, easy-to-fit-inside-your-pocket, portable; nebulizer that comes with a mask that offers a snug fit. It is a high tech mask you can wear in heavily polluted cities.

It comes with Bluetooth and app support. Once you’ve downloaded the app on your phone, using the Bluetooth, you can easily pair the nebulizer with it and invigilate drug doses that are scheduled through the app. In case you suffer breathing difficulties, the app will allow you to switch on the intelligent mode providing instant relief based on the drug set parameters. The app also monitors the air quality in the environment you’re around while helping you to choose the least polluted route to travel to your destination.

Caeli works on multi-disciplinary technologies and makes effective use of hardware capabilities and software intelligence. The device usage and sensor data are processed on the Azure platform – Bharat Sundal

The team, comprising Aakash Bhadana, Ishlok Vashishta, Vasu Kaushik, Dipesh Narwat, and Bharat Sundal is yet to represent Asia at the world championship in Seattle on May 6 where they will compete against the winners from EMEA and the Americas. We hope that the entire team receives the epitome of success with their innovation Caeli.
