After confirming the IMX989, the sub-camera is confirmed: IMX858, currently the most technologically advanced Sony mobile sensor, is also the only one that is on par with the IMX989 in terms of features.
Features of IMX858 Sony Sensor
1. IMX858 is the only Sony sensor that supports MCSS (Multi-Camera Synchronization System), which can achieve better multi-camera consistency;
2.IMX858 is the only Sony sensor that supports LN2 low noise mode except IMX989;
3. IMX858 supports 100% PDAF full Pixel focusing;
4. IMX858 supports the same DOL-HDR technology as IMX989, and with 12-bit ADC, it can achieve an ultra-high dynamic range close to the naked eye.
IMX858 is known as the golden partner of IMX989. Inside Sony, it even has a kind name called “Little Giant.”
However, Lie Jun further stated that to ensure the consistency of the entire system, the company used three IMX858 sensors so that all sub-cameras have the same imaging capabilities and are strictly aligned with the main camera.
