After a long time since the two companies signed a collaboration agreement, Xiaomi and Meitu finally put their first mobile phone into circulation. Or rather, its first couple of mobile phones that also opens a family. The new Xiaomi CC9 and Xiaomi CC9e were launched, with the surname “e” serving as Mini or Lite model.

As expected, the two new phones are placed on two steps and seem to focus on a feature already squeezed by Meitu: the selfies. Thirty-two megapixels as a front camera for both phones, which are also sensors with the ability to merge the pixels and produce images of 8 megapixels brighter. Pixel binning for selfies, and lots of software effects.

Xiaomi has once again implemented the proposal that we have already seen in its catalog and that of many other manufacturers: a more powerful phone and a “little” brother very similar to the first one. The difference is that you now put the last name “e” instead of using Lite or Mini, or pull the last name Pro for the top model. Something that, on the other hand, we have also seen in its current line of mobile phones and Redmi.

The phones also opt for a front camera located on the ‘notch’ in the shape of a drop of water, a 32-megapixel front camera with the ability to merge pixels. Pixel binning aimed at improving the brightness of photographs, which also have all kinds of filters and effects, from emojis in three dimensions to the already classic beauty effect. No flash for this camera, yes, even not an LED flash.

With this camera, we will be available with emojis in three dimensions, that Xiaomi has given to call in mimojis, that already sounds to us and with which we can also record videos, not only use them for photographs. Recognition of our gestures to apply animations to these spherical faces with accessories. A phone for selfies had to have functionality like this.

If we turn the phone over, we have a triple camera system. One that comes crowned by a 48-megapixel main sensor with which we can also play to merge pixels. Full photographs with 48 megapixels or brighter images of 12 megapixels, to suit each one. This sensor comes with a lens aperture f / 1.79 so we should get bright photographs without too much trouble.

Next, to this main sensor, we have two more. The first of these is the super wide-angle, an 8-megapixel sensor that comes with a lens of 118º of amplitude and that will allow us to take group or landscape photographs. The third sensor, responsible for depth readings, is 2 megapixels and comes with an f / 2.4 lens, as is usual in this type of lens.

Xiaomi CC9 bet on 6.39 inches screen size while the Xiaomi CC9e goes by 6.088 inches screen size, 6.1 for all purposes. The brain, what we find under the hood, also varies. We have the Snapdragon 710 for the Xiaomi CC9, accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and a smaller version with 6GB and 64GB.

The other model, the Xiaomi CC9e, reduces the processor to opt for the latest generation Snapdragon 675 processor, and bet on a memory of 4GB and 6GB in RAM and 64GB and 128GB in internal storage. As we see, two very clear steps for the two phones, which become a kind of normal phone and Lite, or phone Pro and normal.
