Xiaomi, the largest smartphone manufacturer in China, claims to have fixed overheating problem in its Mi4i phones launched last month. In a Facebook post, Hugo Barra, Xiaomi’s Vice President of International Operations, said, “Today we began an over-the-air system update of MIUI v6.5.5.0 for Mi 4i users.
This is our first major update for the Mi 4i since its launch last month, incorporating feedback from many early Mi 4i users with a number of bug fixes and optimizations”.
Mi4i, which was launched in April in the Indian market at Rs. 12,999, has been a huge success as 40000 units were sold in 15 seconds through Flipkart, their online partner, which sales flash sales of Mi products.
Users were facing overheating issues while playing complex 3D gaming for a long period of time. Barra claims that they’ve optimized their thermal control algorithms that will adjust the device temperature. With the updated version users using Mi4i need not worry about overheating as the new thermal control algorithm adjust frequency, voltage, and the number of cores in use depending on the chipset temperature.
As the company is planning to release the new version this week, all users are expected to get an update this week, and the company hopes to get a response from the users. Meanwhile, Xiaomi is beta testing before the OTA release and is satisfied with the results as the new version reduces overall temperature without hampering the performance of the device.
Some users found the issue in the power button, so they were working to fix the issue over the weekend and resume the rollout, claims Barra.
