Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S will be launched on March 27, and it isn’t the only device the Chinese brand is coming up with the launch event. A new version of the Mi AI Speaker, the Little Love Student MINI Edition, will be launched there.
Concept images of this edition of the speaker have been uploaded on Weibo, giving us the first out-of-the-box look. The device looks like a mini version of the Smart Rice Cooker of Xiaomi. It bears an interaction pad featuring four buttons on four sides.
Two buttons are for volume control, and the other two will get you to play, pause, or change the track. Besides playing music, the Mi AI MINI Edition will as well provide radio-on-demand, audiobooks, talk shows, education materials, and a voice assistant.
It will be available with a six-microphone array and is expected to be a central device for the smart products of the brand. Its predecessor Mi AI, the first smart speaker of Xiaomi, launched in July 2017, has become the same.
This is likely to be a strategic move for the tech giant, releasing the second smart speaker. Covering the budget segment of this product lineup could be the goal. Amazon did the same with Echo, bringing three smart speakers, and it worked well.
Apart from Amazon, Xiaomi will have to compete with the likes of Google and Apple in smart speakers, and things have naturally become tougher. Although, Mi AI Speaker remained quite affordable as compared to Google Home and Amazon Echo.
