Xiaomi announced two new smart speakers yesterday at the Mijia product launch conference held on June 11 in China. The two new smart speakers are the Xiao Ai Speaker Universal Remote Edition and the Xiao Ai Speaker Play, both of which feature the Xiao Ai assistant support.
Xiaomi Xiao Ai Speaker Play
Featuring a rectangular prism design in the color white, Xiao Ai Speaker Play can stream music, that too from several internet radio stations and recite kids’ stories from its database.
The Speaker Play can control several smart products from various brands such as Phillips and AUX, though the only connectivity option is Wi-Fi.
Priced at ¥169 ( around US$24), the Speaker Play will be available for purchase from June 18 onwards on the Xiaomi website.
Xiaomi Xiao Ai Speaker Universal Remote Edition
Along with offering music streaming services, the smart speaker offers access to numerous internet radio stations and even a database of stories and rhymes for kids.
It can control several smart home products, up to even 5000 different smart home products as Xiaomi claims, via Wi-Fi, Infrared, and Bluetooth.
With the help of its 360° far-field microphone, the speaker has the ability to recognize voice commands from a wide range of distance. The four in-built infrared sensors constituting the speaker allows it to control appliances situated at a distance of up to 10 meters.
A user, for instance, can connect to the Mijia Bluetooth Temperature and Humidity sensor by the voice command for the required information. The sensors would derive the readings and articulate it as such.
Weighing 468 grams and having a height of 140 millimeters, this smart speaker features a rectangular prism design and is available in the color black. The design comprises control buttons, volume control and microphone mute buttons on the top.
The speaker has connectivity features of 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1, and charges via a Micro USB port. A 5V/2A charger is shipped with the speaker.
Priced at ¥199 (around US$29), the Xiao Ai Speaker Universal Remote Edition will be available for purchase from June 12 onwards.
