Recently, Leica and Xiaomi announced a global imaging strategic partnership that promises to revolutionize the smartphone camera industry.
As we see in the Xiaomi 13 series launched late last year in China. The partnership between these two companies delivers promising smartphone cameras that rival even professional-grade cameras. The same thing repeated itself at the MWC 2023 where the company announced the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro globally.
Xiaomi Mi 13 Ultra To be Official this Month
Today, the mobile brand in partnership with Leica Camera China officially announced that Mi 13 Ultra will be released this month. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is a new model in the Xiaomi 13 series. Previously, the device was expected to launch in May or June 2023 but now it has been officially confirmed as coming this month – April.
Leica Camera China posted on social media today that “Leica and Xiaomi’s global imaging strategic cooperation has taken another crucial step, which is of far-reaching significance”, and attached “see you this month” at the end of the post, which means Mi 13 Ultra will be released this month.
Meanwhile, it is also mentioned in the post that: “This time, we have brought together a further upgrade, as well as Leica’s most perfect Summicron lens in the field of mobile imaging so far. Different mobile phone lenses from wide-angle to telephoto have achieved consistent excellence. Optical performance can be described as ‘the rite of passage of moving images.”
Xiaomi Mi 13 Ultra
Given the Leica camera’s official announcement, the Xiaomi Mi 13 Ultra is expected to come with a very powerful imaging system. Recently, Tipster Yogesh Brar leaked the device specifications noting that the camera setup has been upgraded.
According to the leaker, the camera setup will feature four 50 MP sensors. There will be a 50 MP primary camera sensor. The camera setup on the back is also said to feature a 50MP ultra-wide camera sensor and a 50 MP telephoto camera.
Also, there will be another 50 MP telephoto camera, which is likely to offer a farther zoom range. For selfies, the 13 Ultra will feature a 32 MP front camera sensor. As expected, the 13 Ultra will have a Leica-tuned camera system on the back. The camera setup is expected to include the various portrait mode features and Leica photography styles available in the Xiaomi 13 Pro.
In terms of other specs, the Xiaomi Mi 13 Ultra is anticipated to pack flagship hardware therefore, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC is expected. Under the hood, there will be a big 4900mAh battery. The phone will offer support for 90W fast charging and it is also said to offer 50W wireless charging support.
Additionally, the phone is said to launch with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The base model of the phone might pack 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. And finally, the device will launch with Android 13 out of the box. It will have a layer of MIUI 14 on top of Android.
