The new flagship; Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is finally launched today in China as well as in India. The device comes with a magnetic sliding front camera, a dual vertical camera setup, two cameras at the front, and a true bezel-less display.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is built around a 6.4” AMOLED screen and the company claims a massive 93.4% screen-to-body ratio and Full HD+ resolution.
The rear part is mounted on a magnetic slider that reveals a 24MP + 2MP front combo when slid out. The main sensor here is the Sony IMX576, which the company claims can achieve 1.8µm pixel size by 4-pixel binning in low-light environments. Its resolution is effectively reduced to 6MP in those conditions though.
Another dual camera sits on the back 12MP + 12MP, the primary sensor being Sony IMX363 with 1.4µm pixel size and f/1.8 lens, while the secondary telephoto cam has f/2.4 aperture and 1.0µm pixel size. Xiaomi says that the slider, besides opening up cameras, also acts as a customizable shortcut for many tasks. You can customize it to take a selfie, open the drawer, make a call, and more by sliding up.
The display supports 600 nits brightness and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Xiaomi has opted for a traditional slide-out mechanism that requires you to use your fingers to slide the screen down and the rear panel up to reveal the dual front cameras. It differs from the Find X which works on a motorized mechanism that automatically raises the top portion as you unlock the display via face unlock or when opening the camera app.
The smartphone sports a rear fingerprint sensor supports Google ARCore and packs a 3,850mAh battery with 10W Qi wireless charging support. Connectivity options include Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac dual-band (4×4 MU-MIMO ), Bluetooth *v5.0*, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C support.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 price starts at CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs. 34,800) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage option, CNY 3,599 (roughly Rs. 37,900) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB variant, and CNY 3,999 (roughly RS. 42,100) for the 8GB RAM + 256B RAM. The smartphone will be available in Onyx Black, Jade Green, and Sapphire Blue color options, with the 6GB and 8GB RAM variants will go on sale in China and India from November 1.
