Yesterday the Chinese brand announced the launch of the Redmi Note 8 Pro outside the borders of China, but that has not prevented it from holding a major event in its country today to present not one but two new phones. On the one hand, the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G Phone, an improved version of the Mi 9 with more power, more battery and, as the name implies, 5G connectivity, and on the other, the expected Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha.
The latter comes as a concept to succeed in the Mi MIX 3 and does so with the first 108-megapixel camera on the market. In addition, it incorporates an incredible “4D surrounded curve display” screen that completely envelops the terminal, the Snapdragon 855+ processor and 5G connectivity. Let’s see all its features.

A screen that wraps around the phone
The Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha comes with an infinite panel taken to the end, that is, it completely wraps the phone except for a ceramic strip at the back. This makes it reach a frontal utilization of 180.6 %. In addition, that screen, called “4D Surround Curve Screen” has an integrated sound system that provides 360 degrees surround audio and fully functional edges where, for example, we can see notifications.
This “5G Concept smartphone“, as Xiaomi calls it, although we are talking about a commercial mobile phone, has a 2.15 mm upper and lower frames, where the company has hosted WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and all antennas related to the connectivity of the phone (a phone that, by the way, has dual SIM 5G function).
As a chipset, we have the most advanced Qualcomm processor, the Snapdragon 855+, an SoC manufactured in seven nanometers with a total of eight cores distributed in a tri-cluster design. It is accompanied by the Adreno 640 GPU, up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.0 storage. To power, it has a 4,500 mAh battery with a fast charge of 40W.
Record resolution on a phone
Xiaomi has long announced its intentions to launch a smartphone with the Samsung 108 megapixel sensor. Finally, the company has kept its word and the new Mi MIX Alpha has been chosen to release it.
That main sensor of 108 megapixels has a size of 1 / 1.33-inches. It captures images with a resolution of 12,032 x 9,024 pixels and is accompanied by a wide-angle of 20 megapixels f / 2.0 and a telephoto lens of 12 megapixels f / 2.2.
It also has 2x optical zoom, four-axis OIS optical image stabilizer, Laser Focus and the possibility of macro photography 1.5 cm away. As for the Mi Mix Alpha’s front camera, it simply does not have, because the rear camera acts as such.
The Mi Mix Alpha rear camera has a triple camera and is housed in that strip that we mentioned before and that is made of ceramic, while for the body of the phone, the material chosen has been an aerospace-grade titanium alloy. To ensure the resistance of the camera lenses, it also has a sapphire crystal cover.
Versions and prices of Mi MIX Alpha
Although, as we said, Xiaomi has presented its new MI MIX Alpha as a smartphone concept, it intends to launch it in December. Yes, for now, only in China. A single configuration with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.0 internal storage of Mi Mix Alpha will be available at a price of 19,999 yuan.
