One of the most impressive features of the recently released Apple iPhone X is the 3D facial recognition technology.

With the introduction of the iPhone X, Apple has brought massive changes in design and features to the iPhone lineup. The decision to remove the home button that was present in all the previous versions, the replacement of the Touch ID with a facial recognition system dubbed Face ID and the expansion of the display are some of those massive changes.

The Face ID feature of the iPhone X has received some positive reviews from critics and users. It’s obvious that rival OEMs will be quick enough to introduce similar features on their models.

According to our sources, Xiaomi, OPPO, and Samsung have already started working in collaboration with Qualcomm to use 3D Facial recognition on their flagships. If the latest reports are to be believed, then Xiaomi and OPPO, with considerable help from Qualcomm, could release flagship devices sporting this feature in the very next year.

Behind the development of the 3D Facial Recognition technology, there is a joint effort from Qualcomm and Wonder Vision, while Reliance Optoelectronics has supplied the sensor module. This technology is expected to enter mass production within the first quarter of the next year. Huawei is rumored to be working with Sunny Optical Technologies to develop 3D sensor solutions for its high-end models as well. Ophelia optical technology is working on the development of quite a similar technology as well. They are looking forward to cooperating with domestic manufacturers in China in the near future.

It’s not long since the full-screen design has become a trend. As it seems, we are up for another revolution yet again. Experts believe that this new technology could cause a considerable reduction in the use of fingerprint recognition technology. However, it seems to us that the fingerprint sensor technology isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
