The Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is not only known by its original brand name, but the brand is also famously known as Mi. The Mi has been a common trademark for the company for the last ten years; that is to say, the Mi branding has such a long-standing that everyone is used to calling Xiaomi the Mi brand. But that has changed now. Very recently, Xiaomi announced that the company has decided to completely do away with the Mi branding.
Likewise, many smartphones from Xiaomi have arrived without the Mi branding. Now it seems MIUI 13 is also bringing in the same change to the old smartphones as well. With MIUI 13, the Chinese tech giant has renamed the Mi devices to Xiaomi in Mi Cloud or My Device section. So this changing of the name will not only affect the upcoming and new smartphones, but the previous versions of the smartphones too will get the new Xiaomi name. Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is now called simply Xiaomi 10 Pro. The same goes for Xiaomi Mi 9 and Xiaomi Mi 10. Other smartphones that lost their Mi branding are the Xiaomi Mix 4, Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro, Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE, and the Xiaomi Pad 5 tablet.
Although the change of the Mi branding will be effective worldwide, it is not clear yet if the name change within the My Device section will take place worldwide. As of now, this renaming of the devices is limited to only China. As far as MIUI 13 is concerned, the official launch date of the same has not been announced. We can expect the MIUI 13 to debut alongside the upcoming Xiaomi 12 series of smartphones scheduled to launch this month. These smartphones will first make their debut in China before being introduced and launched worldwide.
Rumors suggest that the MIUI will come with features such as floating widgets RAM extension, document watermark, optimized dark mode, more responsive notifications, faster machine learning, new visual design, privacy dashboard, and much more new additions.
