Xiaomi Global VP Manu Kumar Jain has shared that the Chinese company shipped the most smartphones in India in the first quarter of 2021. This marks the 15th quarter that Xiaomi has been able to pull off. In an official tweet made by Xiaomi, the company cited an IDC report showing that Xiaomi has been able to secure 27.2 percent of the market share in India. Moreover, the company has also pointed out that the company it has sold over 3 million units of the Mi 11, Mi 11 Pro, and Mi 11 Ultra globally.
However, the company’s market share in India has come down from what it was in the first quarter of 2020, but the company has managed to increase the shipment amount from 10.1 million to 10.4 million. On the report made and shared by IDC, Samsung secured a second position with 7.3 million units shipped, followed by Vivo with 6.6 million units and 17.3 percent of market share, Oppo with 4.7 million units, and Realme with 4.1 million units.
The report has further shed light on the fact that the Redmi 9, Redmi 9A, and Redmi 9 Power account for 10 percent of Xiaomi’s shipments in India. In contrast, the Mi10i is the most selling 5G smartphone in India in the first quarter of 2021.
On the other hand, the Mi 11, Mi 11 Pro, and the Mi 11 Ultra have sold over 3 million units of smartphones on a global scale. This number points to the collective number of units sold, and the Chinese tech giant has not disclosed information regarding the sale of the individual models. The number also accounts for the sale that took place between January 2021 and April 2021. The Xiaomi Mi 11 model was launched in China in December 2020, but on the global market, it was launched in February 2021.
