Media outlets of China have reported that a Xiaomi product named 2.1 Mi Soundbar has been listed on the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group) organization page a few days ago. This has given rise to the speculations that it is a new Xiaomi 65-inch OLED TV Audio version 2.
To everybody’s surprise, the Bluetooth standard supported by this product (model MDZ-35-DA) is only an older 4.0. This is older than the 4.2 of the current stereo version, the Mi Soundbar launched last year.
Redmi Soundbar 2.0 bearing the product model number MDZ-34-DA will support Bluetooth 5.0 according to the Bluetooth certification website. So it’s fair to speculate that the Soundbar 2.1 may have an external subwoofer. Experts presume that the Xiaomi Mi Soundbar 2.0 will not have an external subwoofer.
Xiaomi had launched the Mi soundbar first-generation last year as a companion for the Mi LED TV range. The existing Mi Soundbar offers four connectivity options: Bluetooth 4.2, Auxiliary, S/PDIF, and Optical. As per the reviews, it enhances the audio quality to a great extent despite not being Dolby Sound certified.
The Soundbar 2.1 in all probability seems to be Xiaomi’s second-generation soundbar variant. Its outdated Bluetooth standard does flummox everyone involved: tech-experts and its expectant customers in equal measure.
