Xiaomi has officially announced to bring its first Android Go phone in India aka the Redmi Go. Media invites have already been sent by the company for the launch event that is to be held in New Delhi set to begin at 12 pm IST.
Xiaomi Redmi Go is an entry-level smartphone that is powered by the Snapdragon 425 SoC. The phone will come with 8GB of internal storage, which can further be expanded up to 128GB with 1 GB of RAM.
Redmi Go will be backed by Google’s Android Go software, the first phone from the Chinese smartphone maker to run with this software. This means the phone will come bundled with all the streamlined apps like Maps Go, and YouTube Go, among others. The Redmi Go comes in funky colors like blue, red, black, and others. The global variant of the Redmi Go will head to India which means the phone will have similar specs as the original model.
Redmi Go smartphone features a 5-inch HD screen with 16:9 aspect ratios. The novelty is backed by Adreno 308 GPU powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor. The name itself hints, Redmi Go runs on Google’s Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) and comes pre-installed with customized apps.
The battery of the Xiaomi Redmi Go claims to offer 11 days of standby time backed up by a 3,000mAh battery. In the camera department, there is an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash support, and a 5-megapixel front camera.
In India we expect the Redmi Go to be priced between Rs 3000 and Rs 4000. The Chinese smartphone maker’s Android Go-powered smartphone is all set to be launched on March 19, 2019.
