Chat apps are basically the lifeline of millennials. There is a huge line of companies when it comes to releasing new chat apps, and Yahoo just joined the bunch. Earlier today, a new ” Squirrel ” app mysteriously appeared on the Play Store. This new app is developed by Yahoo. The company still wants to stay relevant among the big tech companies which have, over time, surpassed Yahoo, and sadly, it has fallen out of place and become irrelevant. This new app appears to be Yahoo’s attempt to stay relevant.
Squirrel app comes with different features than average chat apps available in the market now. Users can organize groups and chat the way they want to. Squirrel is invited only for now. Users can create separate rooms for particular people or topics. They will be able to mute the rooms, which are a snore. However, not everything will be public. Users can use secret rooms for private chats. Users will be able to create their own one-tap reactions for the group; they can share photos, videos, docs, or links and find them later easily, all in one place.
There is this unique setting called the Activity view, which will ensure that the user would not miss any important message and show all the mentions in one place. Notifications can be turned on or off according to the preference of the user for each group individually. Conversations are divided into rooms within group chats, and these rooms within shared rooms can be set as secret so not everyone in the same group can see the content of those private chats.
Squirrel app is of size 13 MB and operates in Android 5.1 and up. It is also available for iOS. Interested parties can download the invite-only app via the Play Store and APK Mirror.
