YouTube announced three changes in its YouTube app to be implemented over the coming days. In the first changes, users will be enabled to explore topics and related videos if they scroll up on the homepage and when browsing Up Next videos. So for the videos, you like, you’ll find your suggestion as your recommendation.
For starters, you can now remove suggestions from channels you don’t want to watch, with YouTube admitting that its algorithms “don’t always get it right.” In the second change, you’ll be able to remove suggestions for those channels you have no interest in watching just by tapping the three-dot menu and selecting “Don’t recommend channel.” Most interesting is YouTube’s third change.
The third announcement is related to giving watchers more control over the kinds of recommendations they see. The top of the Home feed and Up Next under videos feature a new carousel of topics to browse.
The ability to remove channel recommendations on YouTube for Android and iOS is rolling out starting today and coming soon to the desktop web. The third announcement is not yet rolled out but will first launch in English on YouTube for Android. It is coming soon to iOS, desktop, and other languages.
