Zomato now offers its Gold on food delivery also. Existing and new members of Gold will get benefits for home delivery. This may sound like good news to the Zomato delivery users, but at the same time, it will definitely disrupt the revenue of the restaurants/sellers. As now complementary offers will be given to the members.

Previously the Zomato Gold membership was applicable only while eating out but now the Gold membership program will also be rolled out on ordering food delivery to 16 cities starting today. By next week, the company said the program will expand to 25 more cities including Agra, Amritsar, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Mangalore, Mysore, Nashik, Patiala, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Surat, Udaipur, Vadodara, Varanasi, among others. Gold for delivery will be available to over 40 cities in the upcoming days.

Zomato has partnered with 13000 restaurants for Gold on delivery and has existing 6000 restaurants. Existing Gold members will receive the food delivery privileges without any additional cost along with some Fair Usage Policy revisions in their existing membership. Existing members will be limited to two “unlocks” per day (one dining-out and one delivery). Membership will also be limited to a single device per person. Zomato Gold program will offer the second-highest priced item on the order. This is not applicable to combos, MRP items, and special dishes. It is applicable only on minimum order of Rs 300.

Zomato Gold membership is priced at Rs. 1800 per year.

However, this mode has been condemned by the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI). Zomato offering the privileges via the Gold membership is hurting the restaurants in the long run now. Even after talks with delivery systems such as Foodpanda, Zomato, and Swiggy, the NRAI is still displeased with the whole things and refused to accept Zomato’s gold program.
