It has been a couple of days since the spy photographers captured the new BMW X3 for the first time. An independent artist is working on removing the camouflage soon. The fourth-generation model is said to be carrying the “G45” codename and allegedly won’t enter production until August 2024, as stated by Bimmer Post forum member Ynguldyn.
This forecasts that an official event is unlikely to occur before the end of 2023, although a world premiere can happen in the first months of 2024. Since the prototype spotted is fully camouflaged, it’s hard to figure out what’s going on underneath. However, the test vehicle seemed to be built on the CLAR platform, while the next-generation iX3 will utilize the dedicated Neue Klasse architecture for EVs.
BMW has already begun using more aggressive exhaust configurations on its M Performance cars, such as the new M760e. A quad-tip arrangement has already been spotted on the facelifted M135i and first-ever X1 M35i, so it’s definitely coming to “M Lite” models. The adjacent unofficial rendering shows the 2025 X3 with quad exhausts and sharper headlights modeled after BMW’s 3 Series LCI.
With the revamped X3, BMW will offer gasoline, diesel, and plug-in hybrid powertrains, joining the zero-emissions iX3. According to the latest rumors, the next-generation X4 will be codenamed “G46” and will go into production in December 2025. Further down the line, the X4 M (G98) will be launched.
