New functionality is under trials by Facebook, reports suggest. Facebook is testing Screen Share functionality in its Facebook Messenger application for smartphones.

Sharing screen is a handy tool that allows us to share our screens with our friends and family. Such a feature has been in use in Skype and other popular services, and it seems like Facebook is also following the suit.

Twitter user Jane Manchun Wong spotted some major clues using the reverse-engineering approach, which indicated that Facebook is already working on the feature. The new functionality will appear during an audio or video chat session.

The Facebook screen share feature is introduced as “Share Your Screen Together,” through which a user can share their favorite content with their video chat. To use the Facebook screen share feature, users need to tap the Screen Sharing button, and the app will automatically switch off the camera of the smartphone, allowing others to see the content on the screen of your phone. But this will work only after you provide the screen capture permission to your Messenger app.

The feature is currently in the developmental stages, and we need to wait a few more months to get a glimpse. However, nothing has been confirmed officially.
