According to media reports, the best mention of this feature lies in the fact that after updating this feature, users listed on Spotify can listen to uninterrupted music and podcasts from Spotify using both WiFi and Cellular network without even the barrier of placing an iPhone nearby.
The brand new feature by Spotify converts the Apple Watch into a remote control. This converted watch or the remote control can then be used to play audio in both iPhone and headsets. To update to this feature, users are expected to have their iPhones nearby.
