Sony, the emerging Smartphone giant, had to face an issue regarding widely-documented ‘Meltdown’ and ‘Spectre’ CPU vulnerabilities. Sony has shown its concern regarding the issue where it stated its plans to fix it soon. It can be assumed that this patch will appear in Sony’s latest Xperia models.
Sony has revealed its plan to issue patches, where they officially confirmed that there would be no patches for the Sony Z5 family. This news was confirmed by the official tweet from Sony, which says “Xperia Z5 Premium will not get a security patch update for Spectre and Meltdown”. It is clear to us that if this patch is not issued to Xperia Z5 Premium, it won’t apply to entire Xperia Z5 family which includes Z3+ and Z4 Tablet. All these models were updated at the same time with same firmware build numbers.
These handsets are almost two years old. Sony did not issue an update for the firmware of the Xperia Z5 family since October 2017. Finally, we have to wait and look for some more official statement from Sony. We need your views regarding this don’t forget to share them with us.
