Nvidia’s VR platform named Holodeck now has new navigation tools as it prepares to be demonstrated at the annual SIGGRAPH conference in Vancouver, Canada next week.
The new tools of Holodeck are dedicatedly designed for the areas of architecture, engineering, and construction. These aim to not just enhance traditional processes, but as well bring innovative possibilities via the virtual world.
The first of the lot is the Holotable that can provide a tabletop view on scale models for reviewing, rotating and sectioning. There are podium and tools in the package, which will contribute in toggling of layers, and advance flexibility for exploring floor-plans within and across levels. It is as well possible to adjust lighting to comprehend interactions of lights and shadows within designs.
Secondly, the Workflow enhancements allow the importing of Dassault Systemes SOLIDWORKS Visualize models, along with larger footprint models of AEC. Material palettes are improved, providing support to the Holodeck library on editing, saving, and re-assigning of materials to model setups.
This will further reduce prep time for the future sessions in the Holodeck platform. Private sessions can be created, and getting into those has been made more streamlined than before via using passcode-protection.
Among other new features are navigation improvements and new design tools. Holodeck helps architects and clients comprehend more of the designs of buildings, which again makes them betterly decisive in the design phase.
NVIDIA Holodeck breaks down distance barriers, bringing people together from anywhere in the world in a single virtual space to talk, sketch and visualize together without ever boarding a plane or even leaving the office. Holodeck significantly enhances virtual collaboration and strengthens both the design process and the outcomes it generates. – Hilda Espinal, CannonDesign’s Chief Technology Officer
The new features can be accessed by Early Access users, and all they need is to update Holodeck in Steam. Further info and applying for the Early Access are possible on www.nvidia.com/holodeck.
