Since the launch of Android Wearables in 2014, Sony did not introduce any new innovations with the Variable Devices and Smartwatch. Now the company is bringing the Wena strap, which will turn the traditional watch into a smart variant. As a hybrid smart variant, with Sony’s Wena straps, we will be able to make contactable payments, show smartphone notifications, and basic fitness tracking with this device.
This strap of Sony comes in two styles. The first silicon-based strap for people, is named Sony Wena Wrist Active. On the other hand, the second metal-based strap is for those who like the premium design and have been named Sony Wena Wrist Pro.
The steel Sony Wena Wrist pro is probably the slimmest 20mm most safe option for a smart strap. It is water-resistant up to 50m with 18mm, 20mm, and 22mm lug attachments with a two-line OLED screen that offers a two-line ticker of teeny text, displaying a range of information dependent on your Wena model. It also feels comfortable on the wrist. That itself is promising.
Like the Pro, the Active band has a width of 20mm and comes with all the same lug attachments. It sports heart-rate tracker integration with both Apple Health and Google Fit. The Active also boasts an in-built GPS. The Wena Wrist Pro is the classier of the two, with a metal strap and a more professional look.
The Sony Wena smart straps are already available to pre-order in the UK from today priced at £100 to £400 that can be bundled with any ordinary watch to transform it to a smartwatch.
