The Night King is coming! A preview for the third episode of Game of Thrones season 8, the final season showed its preparation for battle against forces that seem unstoppable.
Unfortunately, the HBO trailer for the next week’s episode shows very little of what’s to come. Sansa’s voiceover declares, “The most heroic thing we can do now looks the truth in the face,” as the camera pans across the waiting armies at Winterfell, before landing on a shot of Grey Worm looking stoic.
The long-awaited battle in episode 3 will no doubt be a surprise for its fans who weren’t expecting it to come as early as the show’s climax has long been teased. The episode is the first super-sized entry of the season as the last four episodes are all nearly 80 minutes long.
In the trailer, we get a look at the Westerosi battalions, the meager catapult setups, and a bunch of ponies. In the episode’s closing moments, the Night King made an ominous appearance on the horizon, marking the beginning of the Battle of Winterfell.
