The wait for the Game of Thrones fans is finally over. HBO tweeted a 1:30-minute teaser trailer with the hashtag #FortheThrone for the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones some right hours back, sending the fans into a frenzy. The previous season of Game of Thrones, season 7, aired in 2016, two years back and fans were suspended into what can be called a long hiatus waiting period of two years. The last season of Game of Thrones will finally air on the 14th of April. The final episode of Season 7 had the most enigmatic ending as it left a lot of questions unanswered and their fans bewildered.

The excitement among the GoT fans worldwide shows as the teaser trailer on Twitter has about 7.79 million views and 153K re-tweets within 8 hours of its release. The fans will get the privilege of returning back to Westeros one last time, and it will mark the end of an unexpected, albeit adventurous and thrilling journey. To get the excitement going, HBO’s official Twitter handle has started a countdown till the show airs on the 14th of April. Ninety days’ wait seems like a lot of time for the hardcore GoT fans. The ‘#FortheThrone’ is trending on all social media platforms, including Facebook, with over 8.8 million views.

Unlike the first six seasons, which had ten episodes each, and the last season which had seven episodes, the last season of Game of Thrones will only have six episodes. Even though the teaser does not reveal or show any details from the upcoming season, it is a chilling teaser and tells us what we are to expect in the coming season.

In the teaser, Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington, Sansa, played by Sophie Turner, and Arka Stark, played by Maisie Williams, is seen walking through the Winterfell’s crypts and passing through the statues of their ancestors. They finally come face to face with their own statues, and we see Jon and Arya draw their swords as frost fast approaches through the tunnels.

The different episodes will be directed by David Benioff, DB Weiss, David Nutter, and Miguel Sapochnik. They, along with Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill, have scripted episodes. As hinted by the co-executive producer Bryan Cogman, fans might get a shocking ending, as is the forte of the GoT author George RR Martin. But he also mentioned that this season would be “an incredibly emotional haunting bittersweet final season”. We can only speculate from this that the series might kill off some of the leading characters, loved by all, and the story may flip on its own head.
