Acer on Wednesday announced its two laptops Nitro 5 and Swift 3 notebooks that will be powered by the second generation of AMD’s Ryzen, mobile processor.

The Nitro 5 – a notebook aimed for gamers is all set to get the second-generation Ryzen 7 3750H processor and the Radeon RX 560X graphics card. The 15.6-inch Nitro 5 (above) carries a 2.3GHz quad-core Ryzen 7 3750H and dedicated Radeon RX 560X graphics to handle a moderate amount of gaming.

Users can expect stunning visuals and responsive performance from the new AMD technology – Acer

The updated Nitro 5 will come with a 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen 7 3750H that will offer four cores, eight threads, and a 2.3 GHz base clock with a 4 GHz boost. The previous Nitro 5 ran its Ryzen 5 2500U in cTDP up mode, which allowed up to 25 Watts of sustained power draw, so the Ryzen 7 3750H should let for even higher sustained frequencies.

For the updated version the default TDP is 35 Watts, with a cTDP of between 12 and 35 Watts. As a gaming laptop, Acer also sells the Nitro series with a 45-Watt Intel offering, so there’s undoubtedly enough cooling to handle the extra TDP from the new AMD CPU.

The 14-inch Swift 3 uses the more modest (but still quad-core) 2.3GHz Ryzen 7 3700U and defaults to integrated Vega graphics, but you can get Radeon RX 540X video if you’d like to squeak in some Overwatch when you’re not writing reports.

The Swift 3 as for design comes with sleek aluminum designs that open 180-degrees to lay-flat, slimmer bezels, and the latest technologies for performance with connectivity, packed into a super-light 1.45 kg (3.2 lbs)[2] design that is only 17.95 mm thin (0.71 inches). The notebooks will be on display at Acer’s Computex booth from May 28 through June 2.
