The government of India’s decision to ban the famous mobile game PUBG Mobile did go down bitterly, and since then, there have been a few speculations that mostly revolve around the idea to bring the game back.

Reportedly, the Indian telecom company Airtel is in talks with the PUBG Corp to revive the banned game in India. Previously, PUBG Corp was in talks with Reliance Jio for the same, and ever since the negotiations fell through with Reliance Jio, Airtel is ready to negotiate.

PUBG is in an early conversation with Airtel for handing over distribution rights to the telecom giant. This desperation shows that PUBG has been trying hard to get back into the Indian market.-claimed an anonymous source.

There, of course, has been no confirmation of this claim through any official statement either from Airtel or from PUBG Corp. In recent data published by the Sensor Tower revealed that the number of downloads for the PUBG Mobile has fallen by a tremendous margin since it was banned in India last month.

The report cites that the game reached 10.7 million downloads globally in September which is a 26.7% fall from the 14.6 million downloads that were recorded in the month before.

However, the number may appear to be frighteningly significant, it has not taken anything away from the company’s bottom line. The main reason behind this is that despite India being one of its largest markets, India contributes very little to the company’s overall earnings. China, the US, and Japan top the list in that case.

However, this does not mean that the Indian market is of no value to the PUBG Corp which is precisely why the developers are looking to distance itself from Tencent, and are currently in search of an Indian partner which would lead them back to establishing their gaming empire in the Indian market. Now only time will tell if this deal with Airtel goes through.
