Google has confirmed at I/O 2019 what was an open secret, that Android Q will be version 10, in addition to announcing that there are already more than 2.500 million active devices. But most importantly: they have shown new developments in Android 10.

In Android 10 Q, the company has focused on innovation, security, privacy, and digital wellbeing to launch later this summer one of the biggest updates to its mobile operating system.

As we had already advanced in the past MWC 2019 in Barcelona, Android Q joins the new trends in the industry, giving support to folding screens and mobile phones with 5G connectivity. Google presumes that Android is the first operating system to support 5G.

Google surprises us with Live Captions, a new accessibility option that is able to subtitle in real time the videos and audios that are reproduced from our device.

Google continues to make its Android operating system more intelligent, and Android 10 will launch notifications for any applications with intelligent responses and suggested actions. This means that from the notification in addition to being able to touch a suggested answer we can also take an action, such as opening with Google Maps the address sent to us in the message.

And after so many years of waiting for the Dark Theme, now it will be a reality in Android 10. In the quick settings bar, we can activate this new mode to black out the interface and all the compatible applications.

Android 10 gives shelves to the navigation bar and presents new gesture navigation to iOS. We will no longer have a lower bar occupying space on the screen, now we will see a thin line as a handle to switch between applications, see open applications or back with simple gestures.

In Android 10, we will find almost 50 new functions and changes focused on security and privacy. Now in Settings> Privacy all the controls that have to do with our personal data, permissions, and activity.

Google wants to be very transparent and now its activity controls from our Google account are integrated into these new privacy settings so you can quickly view and manage the information Google has about you.

Digital well-being will debut on Android P and Android Q with the new Focus mode designed to help you focus without distractions.
