For security point of view Android added this 2-step verification in latest Android Beta Version. The functionality when enabled will ensure a more secured activation of the app on any new device. It requires passcode when registering your phone number with WhatsApp.
If you go through settings in WhatsApp, you will see a new added option “Two-Step Verification”. After clicking on it, the screen will display that explains what 2-step verification is and get the option to enable it. Then you have to enter 6-digit passcode and also need to give an email address that’ll be used to reset your passcode to recover your password.
Once the above process is done, tow-step verification will active on your number. No one can use the same number to activate WhatsApp unless they have passcode or email account to reset it.
Another interesting improvement in Android is the option to play audio messages in the background. This was introduced in a previous few beta versions but we had to keep WhatsApp open and stay within the conversation to hear any voice message received in it. Now, you can switch over to the other conversation or other app but still voice message will play in the background, it doesn’t get over, your phone’s screen doesn’t turn off.
Both two-step verification and background audio message playback are available in the latest WhatsApp beta that you can grab from the Play Store by joining the official program or from APK Mirror.
