Apple has been developing the Reality Pro AR/VR headset for a long time, and it appears that it is ready for prime time. Now, it’s been claimed that Apple may soon enter the market for AR/VR Reality Pro headsets, with a release date of fall 2023.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple plans to launch the headset before the annual Worldwide Developers Conference in July. Furthermore, the report follows remarks made by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo last week, who claimed that delays in software development and mechanical component problems have caused Apple to push back production until the second half of 2023.

This year may finally see the release of Apple’s mixed-reality headsets

The headset was reportedly scheduled to debut from Apple in January 2023, but those plans have since shifted. After years of frantic speculation and keen expectation, it looks that Apple’s long-awaited Reality Pro headset will eventually be available to the public in the fall of this year. If this turns out to be the case, Apple will undoubtedly surpass Samsung in the AR headset launch race. Both companies are developing their own AR/VR headsets, but it currently appears that Apple will release its product first.

According to reports, the high-performance Apple headset will use the same M1 processor present in the company’s MacBook Pro and will debut with a specially designed operating system and a new App Store. The headset (rumored to be called Reality Pro) would be powered by an operating system called xrOS that was created solely for the device.

There are allegedly still a number of problems that need to be resolved. The headset’s development is also said to have taken resources away from other firm projects. However, Apple is trying to get the AR/VR headset launched as soon as possible. The company is also taking steps to prevent any potential launch delays.
