Apple always has a few tricks up its sleeve and they often initiate those surprising technologies into the market to awe everyone. The glass has started a series of speculations among the fans and people have high hopes for it.

We assume that these AR glasses will hit the market by 2023. Other than the AR features, the glass could have a microphone to locate and detect the source of the sound.

What is Apple Glass?

The highly anticipated Apple Glass is basically a wearable pair of glasses that uses augmented reality technology. According to the rumors, the glass will be able to display information on both lenses, with a user controlling them via gestures both on and in front of the frames. The users could connect them to their iPhones.

Apple glasses wouldn’t have conventional cameras; however, they would have a LiDAR scanner to power AR experiences. Moreover, the rumors suggest that there is a possibility of the glasses having six lenses along with the scanner.

The recent reports also suggest Apple Glass may include a microphone that will locate sounds as well as direct the users to its source.

How will the microphone work?

The microphones within the Apple Glass will apparently detect audio that’s difficult to hear, precisely locate them and direct the users towards them.

The patent where Apple elaborated about their 3D audio and sound quality shows that they are developing a head-mounting device that will have audio-based feedback to detect the sounds. This particular head mounting device could either be the glasses or the AR- VR headphones.

As per the patent, the head-mountable device can include multiple microphones for directional audio detection. It can be configured to provide visual outputs based on audio inputs by displaying an indicator on a display based on a location of a source of a sound.

If the technology is developed properly, the Apple Glass will be able to get audio information from multiple sources that are located in different directions and calculate the origin of the sound.

The microphones will be working as indicators of the sounds and will direct the users to them. Apple claims that this can allow the user to correctly and readily identify the location of the source, even when the user is not readily able to hear the sound independently of the head-mountable device.

Additionally, they mentioned in the patent that the detected audio inputs can be rendered with audio outputs that emphasize certain sounds over others to help the user distinguish between different sounds.

Well we still have to wait a couple of years until the Apple Glasses paves its way to the market and bring the AR to us. The glasses are expected to be released by the year 2023 and may cost roughly $499 as per the rumors.
