The online rumors are always on; though we are already halfway through 2019 speculations have started cropping up for 2020 especially for iPhone lineup. According to a reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, in a published, she says that at least one of the new iPhones planning to launch in 2020 will be slimming down their notch.
A bit of information from a separate report says that Apple is planning on launching at least one full-screen iPhone in 2020. This might effectively remove the top notch along with a design change touting a more prominent display and full-screen fingerprint authentication.
As rumored Apple is anticipated to come with an entirely new line up including three new OLED models with screen sizes of 6.7-inches, 5.4-inches, and 6.1-inches. Reports also suggest Apple working for its fourth new with Touch ID support exclusively for China.
The analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo also believed that by 2021 the iPhones would be notch-less completing the transition to under-screen front cameras and full-screen fingerprint authentication. As per reports, Apple is all set to develop its under-screen fingerprinting technology rather than rely on a third-party provider.

2019: three new iPhone launches without any changes to touch and Face ID.
2020: new iPhone lineups with slimmer notches and one notch-less iPhone with full-screen fingerprint authentication.
2021: anticipated to launch three new notch-less iPhones with full-screen fingerprint authentication.
iPhone notch has been in controversy since 2017, so there might be plausibility with these rumors, although nothing is officially announced yet. Though it is uncertain about the changes, the changes look no doubt looks promising.
