A wave of discontent has recently swept through the Apple community as several individuals took to Apple Discussion to voice their concerns about a glitch affecting their podcast experience. The primary grievance revolves around the malfunctioning of the skip ahead and skip back functions within the Apple Podcast app.
Users Report Glitches in Podcast Navigation
One user, @theclevelander, initiated the discussion by highlighting a frustrating experience, stating, “The skip back 15 seconds and skip ahead 30 seconds only works when I repeatedly press the skip and then it skips to a random spot, almost like there is a bad lag. This only happens when I have the podcast open in the app. The skip buttons work fine from the lock screen. I am using iOS 17.1.1. Is anyone else having this issue?”
@Londoncharlot echoed a similar sentiment, revealing, “I have the same issue – it only started after I upgraded to iOS 17.1.2. Skip & forward work on all other apps, & sometimes on screen lock. It’s just the Apple podcast app when it’s open. (Mine are frozen & don’t work at all). Have tried reinstalling the app but no joy.”
Expressing further frustration, @Londoncharlot added, “Nothing works in the app for me – tap or hold. The only way to do it is from the Home Screen.”
@williamconec voiced concern over a potential change in Apple’s software, urging transparency: “If Apple has changed the software so that skip ahead/skip back no longer works, would someone from Apple please confirm – or deny? As my grandmother used to say Bee honest, not rude.'”
Adding to the chorus of complaints, @PeterMck13 reported, “I have a similar issue. I can’t get the skip ahead to work at all most times; the skip back function works about half the time. iPhone SE iOS 17.1.1.”
Despite the growing discontent among users, as at the time of press, Apple is yet to address these issues officially. As users grapple with podcast navigation glitches after updating to iOS 17.1.1 and iOS 17.1.2, there is hope that the American tech giant will swiftly acknowledge and resolve the concerns in upcoming updates.
