According to an exclusive internal document distributed to Apple Stores and Apple Authorised Service Providers in the US, it is noted that Apple will honor the refund-related requests connected with heart health features up to 45 days from purchase. Apple Watch already had the 14-day return policy.
This was done by the Apple stores to enable the users to connect with Apple through phone, email, or the online chat to initiate the Apple Watch refund beyond the usual two-week period as per the document of MacRumors.
The Apple Watch Heart health features the upcoming ECG app on the Apple Watch series along with the irregular heart rhythm notifications on the Watch Series 1 through Series 4 models. The document by MacRumors reported that the ECG app along with the notification will be featured in watchOS 5.1.2.
It is suggested that as long as the customer mentions about the ECG app or irregular heart rhythm notifications as the reason for their return, it will be honored up to 45 days since Apple stores are not required to inspect the watch if the user has an issue with the heart health related Apple Watch refund request.
Therefore, Apple did not respond to a request for the comment. However the ECG App is not expected to be a device for diagnosis and it should also not be used to record or detect disease or change the process of medication without consulting a doctor, as mentioned by Apple.
For recording, the Apple Watch users have to place a finger on the Digital crown while wearing the watch and complete the reading within 30 seconds which will enable to record whether their hearts are beating in a regular manner or if there is a sign of fallacy or atrial fibrillation.
The ECG app along with the heart data will be stored in the Health App on the paired iPhone 5s or will be included in the newer running iOS 12.1.1 or later.
