Apple’s new Mac software, macOS Mojave, is available; the software was first announced in June and brought many changes to the Mac experience, meaning early adopters and developers have been playing around with public beta for most of the summer.

Starting from September 24, macOS Mojave is available for everybody. Before downloading, make sure your Mac or MacBook has enough storage to handle the new update, which will require about 20 GB of storage.

The name of the new update is interesting, in case you want to know; the name “Mojave” refers to the Mojave Desert in California, which follows the California landmark-based naming system that Apple first initiated with OS X Mavericks (version 10.9).

Let’s now find the best macOS Mojave features –

New features in macOS Mojave include system-wide Dark Mode, time-shifting desktops, Stacks for your desktop files, improvements to Finder (Gallery View, Quick Actions, Complete Metadata), Quick Look to edit files, easier screenshots, use your iPhone to snap a photo to the Mac, Group FaceTime (coming later this fall), new apps (Stocks, Home, Voice Memos), revamped Mac App Store, better security, and more.

Apple is getting to include a fully functional Dark Mode in macOS. Switching to the mode will change the system theme, and other system apps like Maps, Messages, Mail, and Photos will automatically switch to a dark theme. It also has an API for developers to apply Dark Mode in their apps.

The new desktop changing wallpaper; introducing Dynamic Desktop is another key feature. In macOS Mojave, the desktop wallpaper automatically changes to match the time of the day. Microsoft will be bringing its Office suite to the Mac App Store, which should debut later this year.

The Finder gets a gallery View in macOS Mojave, yet another feature that makes gliding through your photos and videos easier. It also makes it easier to see important photo details with metadata support displayed in the Preview pane.

Another iOS app that is going to be available is Voice Memo. This app will make it accessible to record personal notes, meetings, and more. It can also be synced across all your devices using iCloud.

The favicons in Safari have been a part of the browsing experience for more than a decade now that helps you tell which site you’re on. You’ll find them in the tab bar at the top. But one will find changes in iOS 12 and macOS as it’s one of the new hidden features in iOS 12 and Mojave and isn’t turned on by default, but switching it on, you’ll instantly see favicons in the tab bar.

Finally, the Group FaceTime with iOS 12 feature is to be a part of macOS Mojave later this fall. With Group FaceTime, you can make a group video call at once with 32 people. And even make it fun by using Animoji, Memoji, stickers, and more while on a FaceTime call.

Well, none of these features is game-changing on their own, but they add up to an improved, refined experience, so you might want these new updates.
