ASUS to kick things off with the exposure of ZenBook 3, Transformer 3 Pro, Transformer 3 at COMPUTEX 2016 in Malaysia. After the official launch of ASUS Zenfone 3 line, the company is back in the race with their brand new notebook and 2-in-1 lineup to Malaysian – the ZenBook 3, Transformer 3 Pro and Transformer 3.
ASUS ZenBook 3
An ultra-thin, ultra-light latest ultra-book of Asus, is weighing just 910g with an 11.9mm thin chassis. It is available in two variants: one that’s powered by an Intel Core i7-6500U processor, and the other that’s running on an Intel Core i5-6200U processor. Apart from the difference in processing power, both variants will sport the same 12.5-inch, 16:9 Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) display, 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM. The new range ZenBook 3 also supports up to 1TB of PCIe Gen 3 x4 SSD storage, and quad-speakers that have been developed by Harman Kardon.
Asus ZenBook 3 was crafted from aerospace-grade aluminum and comes in three colors – Royal Blue, Rose Gold & Quartz.
Its base variant which has an Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will be priced at US$999 (~RM4,111). On the other hand, the top-of-the-line variant includes an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD will be going for US$1,999 (~RM8,227) with a battery life of up to nine hours which can be fast-charged up to 60 percent capacity in 49 minutes.
ZenBook 3 also has a full-sized backlit keyboard, which not only has a generous key pitch (the horizontal space between keys) of 19.8mm but also 0.8mm of key travel to provide a comfortable typing experience. But with great thinness comes minimal connectivity ports – you’ll only get one USB Type-C port on the Asus ZenBook 3, and nothing else.
ASUS Transformer 3
ASUS Transformer 3 comes with 7th gen Intel Core I7 processor, 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM and a 256GB SSD. It has a 12.6 inch 2880×1920 resolution display. Its USB type-C port supports Thunderbolt 3. Like the ZenBook 3, the Transformer 3 also has quad-speakers that have been tinkered by Harman Kardon. It even has a 13MP rear camera for all your photo and video needs.
Transformer 3 wouldn’t be a convertible notebook if it didn’t come with its own keyboard dock, especially one that has 1.4mm of key travel, a glass-covered touchpad, and an integrated two-position kickstand, to be specific.
Transformer 3 will be retailing from US$799 (~RM3,288) onwards.
ASUS Transformer 3 Pro
And finally Asus introduced a new Transformer 3 calling it as the world’s most versatile PC. It comes with a 12.6-inch display with 275 ppi, Equipped with 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and up to 1TB of PCIe x4 Gen3 SSD storage. Strangely enough, the Transformer 3 Pro will be powered by 6th (and not 7th) generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors.
The Transformer 3 pro also sports a USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 2 port that can also support Thunderbolt 3. HDMI port and a USB 3.0 port is also present into it.
Some more features include dual stereo Harman Kardon speakers, 13MP rear camera, and integrated variable angle metal kickstand, which can prop up the Transformer 3 Pro at any viewing angle up to 170 degrees.
Moreover, There’s an external graphics card dock called the ROG XG Station 2 that can accommodate a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 GPU (and also the latest AMD Radeon GPUs), a stylus that can register more than 1,024 different levels of pressure called the ASUS Pen, a speaker that’s able to deliver 360-degree virtual 5.1 channel surround sound dubbed the ASUS Audio Pod, and lastly, a connectivity port expansion hub that will furnish both the Transformer 3 devices with additional USB Type-C 3.1, USB 3.0, HDMI, VGA, and RJ45 LAN ports, and a 3-in-1 SD card reader.
It is also having a stylus called the ASUS pen which has 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity.
The Transformer 3 Pro will have a starting price of US$999 (~RM4,111).
