Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) announced that Bluetooth 5 will be the new wireless standard and will replace Bluetooth 4.2. SIG has already officially adopted Bluetooth 5 as the latest version.
Bluetooth 5 is coming with lot many great features as it will support a longer range and provides a larger speed with a larger broadcast message capacity. The speed of Bluetooth 5 is two times more than that of Bluetooth 4.2. And it supports a four times larger range than Bluetooth 4.2. This makes the Bluetooth 5 work faster compared to the previous one.

Furthermore, Andrew Zignani, with ABI Research, said that Bluetooth 5 would create new opportunities in various verticals in the IoT market because of less complexity and cost with more flexibility.
Products supporting Bluetooth 5 will be available in the market after two to six months of release. We can look forward to this feature in the upcoming products of Apple, including the iPhone too.
