The most anticipated version of the BMW X1 range is now official. The midsize SUV from BMW launches a new plug-in hybrid engine, a propulsion system with which from now on will make a BMW X1 with zero emissions label. It is a new architecture that, in addition to promising high efficiency, also allows you to enjoy 4×4 traction. BMW X1 xDrive25 has 220 hp and up to 50 km of WLTP electric autonomy for the BMW X1 plug-in hybrid

The plug-in hybrid system of the X1 xDrive25e is based on the combination of a 1.5 Turbo 3-cylinder petrol engine with 125 hp for the front axle and a 95 hp electric motor for the rear axle. While the front axle uses a 6-speed automatic transmission per torque converter, the electric motor has a fixed ratio. This system allows both engines to work both independently and in combination, thus offering a kind of all-wheel-drive system when both engines run simultaneously.

The maximum combined power of the BMW X1 plug-in hybrid is 220 hp and the torque reaches 385 Nm. With these figures, the X1 is able to perform the 0-100 km / h in 7 seconds. The top speed is set at 135 km / h for electric mode and 192 km / h in a plug-in hybrid configuration. For the batteries, a pack with lithium-ion technology with 9.7 kWh of capacity is trusted, which translates into a WLTP autonomy of up to 50 kilometers in 100% electric mode.

The location of the batteries has been done under the rear seats, partially penalizing the capacity of the trunk that now signs a cargo volume of 450 liters. For the recharge of the BMW batteries, it points out that in a conventional outlet it will take around 5 hours while using a wall box the charging time will be 3.6 hours. As usual in the BMW PHEV range, the charging socket is located on the left fin.
