China is the world’s largest market for discrete graphics cards, where they are also primarily manufactured and put together. China’s independent graphics card market, however, has not been simple in recent years due to the global political and economic position such as the pandemic, supply chain, and other challenges, particularly the United States semiconductor ban on the country.

Statistics from the Chinese forum Bobantang revealed today that the market saw a year-on-year decrease of 42% in shipments in January this year, although it is expected to rebound in the market outlook. The latest statistics show that China shipped 42% fewer discrete graphics cards in January of this year than they did in the same month last year.

Chinese Forum Bobantang Statistics

According to the most recent statistics from the Chinese forum Bobantang, the total shipments of independent graphics card brands in China increased by about 9% month over month in January of this year due to retailer promotions, but they declined precipitously by about 42% compared to the same month last year.

Industry analysts claim that the Chinese market was poor in January and that this was exacerbated by the flu outbreak and the Lunar New Year holiday. While comparing each brand, Colorful continues to come out on top, and its shipments are largely unchanged from December.

In terms of shipments, ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI are in second through fourth place, with Gigabyte showing the most evident growth. The positions of GALAXY, Gengsheng, Maxsun, and Zotac, which all changed somewhat, were fifth to eighth behind.

Even though January’s shipments were much lower than they were in January of last year, Bobantang reckons the graphics card market has bottomed out. According to them, there are some products whose prices are anticipated to be more beneficial.

After February, independent graphics card producers anticipate a comeback in shipments, and a series of mainstream new products will gradually join the market, the analysts asserted. Therefore, we hope to see a rebound in China’s graphics card market outlook in the coming months.
